
Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and civil society (CSOs) can help governments, service providers and the private sector bring water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) to all. This 8-hour course aims to strengthen the capacity of NGOs and CSOs to raise funds for creating and strengthening universal WASH services.
Fundraising for NGOs and CSOs is about creating opportunities for people to invest in causes they believe in. About making a powerful link between the world’s challenges and your unique position to solve them.

After completing this course, NGOs and CSOs will know:
- what fundraising is.
- gain experience with assessing a real opportunity
- develop a draft pitch
- know how to identify, assess and respond to opportunities
Session overview
This course covers the fundraising basics for WASH. Complete all the sessions in consecutive order:
- Session 1: Fundraising for WASH
- Session 2: The funding landscape
- Session 3: Approaches to fundraising
- Session 4: Approaching donors
- Session 5: Responding to opportunities
Go through the course following all sessions in consecutive order. (i.e. from session 1 to 5).
Duration
On average, the course takes a minimum of 8 hours to complete.
